modish

wow...it's been a loooong time since i've updated this. silly life! anyway, love this awesome "mod-ish" dress. it's a lovely dark navy corduroy with bright orange, reddish orange, and purple accents. i'm digging the huge purple buttons. naturally, i thought some orange knee highs would go perfectly with it. i'm not too crazy about these nylons; they aren't fitted around the ankle, which drives me rather nuts. i was a bit undecided about which shoes i wanted to wear but finally went with these low-heeled silver spectator mary janes. i love that the accents are patent, it makes them much more interesting. aaaaand voila!!--i'm ready to party!! now if only it wasn't so damn cold outside...grr.

anthills & fairy rings

had a relaxing day visiting with family, eating food, and enjoying the sunshine.
i'm wearing my short boots today. i find them very interesting; they're not quite brown and not quite green, with some tinges of black.
very fitting for this flowy shirt, which has brown, yellow, white, & green flowers all over it and black lace on the top.

i looove this bracelet & these rings. i got the bracelet from my mom for christmas several years ago and the turquoise & mother of pearl ring from my sister last christmas. the other ring i've had for years; the stones are starting to fall out though and that makes me sad. :(

ombré

purplee1

i really love these smoky, amethyst-tinted glasses. they were my mother’s in the 70’s.
i also adore this purple ombré dress. i love that it has both feminine and distressed details.
it's also comfortable and not too heavy, which is great for this disgusting summer weather.
in addition to being extremely hot, it's also been very rainy here lately. hooray for boots!

i hope everyone’s having a lovely day!

hello yellow

I love this groovy yellow polka dot dress! This yellow & silver ensemble is a homage to my lovely grandmother, whose favorite color obsessions are yellow and silver. For a very long time she had an entirely yellow kitchen, complete with yellow refrigerator, countertops, stove, floor...and a silver microwave! She also only wears silver jewelry. So naturally, yellow and silver always remind me of her.

I'm using a small silver box for a clutch and a pretty leaf pendant on a chain for a necklace. This is one of the reasons I love boxes so much--they're so versatile! The bangles are presents from my other grandmother's various trips to Mexico.

My friend gave me these flowers with a birthday present. Aren't they beautiful? I love the colors, they're so bright and cheerful!

heart yourself

1

ruffles, eyelets, hearts, lace, pink…this is what i wore to celebrate the frivolity of valentine’s day. well, at least during part of the day. my night was spent spreading drywall mud on ceilings. how romantic! i really don’t care though, because i can’t wait to have my house finished.

valentine’s day has always typically sucked for me. not because i was alone, but because every boyfriends i've ever had was immensely obtuse in the ways of romanticism..or appreciation of any kind, in general (i know...males! bah!). i find it much more enjoyable if i consider valentine’s day as a day dedicated to loving & appreciating yourself..which you should do every day anyway! if you are happily in love, then by all means, celebrate that every day, too! but don’t feel grieved or shorted or unworthy if you are not. if you don’t love yourself, then how can anyone else? besides, i feel that it is much better to be alone than to be with someone who doesn’t truly love and appreciate you.

that is, unless you’re the needy, clingy, psycho, borderline type…in which case, you’re lucky if anyone puts up with your bullshit. :p
